Liverpool complete signing of highly-rated defender



Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of young starlet Anderson Arroyo from Colombian outift Fortaleza. The Reds agreed a deal for Aroyo during the January transfer window, with the deal completed during the week.

The young defender is regarded highly in his native Colombian league, making over 22 appearances for club side Fortaleza in the past three seasons.

Aroyo impressed the Liverpool staff during a short trial, subsequently agreeing a deal with the Reds for an undisclosed fee.The Merseysiders have been found wanting in the defensive aspect, conceding more goals than any other side in the top four this term.

Reds Manager Jurgen Klopp has looked to strengthen this aspect of his side,signing Virgil van Dijk for a record fee during the early stages of the January transfer window.

However, the signing of Van Dijk has increased the competition for places at the club, which might hamper the chances of Aroyo featuring prominently in the side.

Although, the 18-year-old is regarded as a player for the future by Jurgen Klopp and is set for an 18- month loan spell at Liga 2 side Real Mallorca. Aroyo’s versatility means he is capable of switching from the left to the right side, The Colombian is equally known for his attacking prowess.

It is hoped regular game time at Real Mallorca will hone his skills as a player, thus coming to his parent club better equipped to challenge for a starting spot.
