The premier league makes its return this Saturday as 20 clubs begin the race for the title in the English top flight. Liverpool legend Danny Murphy made his predictions on the teams likely to finish in the top four.

Murphy tips Manchester City to regain the EPL title and sees the gap in quality in the Manchester side too great for challengers Liverpool and Manchester United. He believes that City has the most complete squad in the EPL and the community shield victory over Chelsea served to show the gap between Guardiola’s men and the rest of the league.

Murphy final picks for the top 4 are Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham with no space for Chelsea and Arsenal.

“I think the gap is too big to breach so quickly for some of the other teams chasing, like Liverpool and [Manchester] United. For me, I think City will be champions again,”

They are an exquisite team now. Their confidence, their ability to rotate players and their ability to win even when not playing brilliantly is there for all to see.

“That game against Chelsea – although it’s only a Community Shield – just reiterates the competition they have for places. They won that game without three of their best players

This season hopefully would bring excitements than last season where Manchester City had the league sewn up with virtually half of the season left to play.

Liverpool looks the most equipped to challenge Manchester City having recruited smartly and plugging the Goalkeeping position by signing Alisson. United remain as dangerous as ever with Mourinho entering the dreaded third season.

Chelsea cannot be written off as the Blues record of two EPL titles in the last four years makes them a dangerous prospect. Tottenham have been around the top for the past few seasons and the move to the new stadium could see the club fulfil their budding potentials.
