Liverpool move to sign Nabil Fekir replacement

The dust raised by Liverpool’s failed bid for Lyon midfielder Fekir has settled, as Liverpool have turned their sights to an ideal replacement.

The Reds reportedly pulled out of the deal worth £53 million after a failed medical due to concerns over his knee.  Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Stoke city winger Xherdan Shaqiri. The club’s officials have reportedly communicated with the Swiss international representatives with a view of bringing the player to Anfield.

Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign the 26-year-old and have moved quickly to wrap the deal as speculations are beginning to link the player to other Premier League clubs.

Shaqiri has a £12 million relegation release clause which is apparently a bargain deal if he signs for that amount. The winger is expected to create competition for the Reds’ front three as, Jurgen Klopp is plotting a title bid for next season.

Liverpool have been busy in the market having confirmed the arrivals of Brazilian Ace Fabinho and Guinean Naby Keita this summer.  However, all indications indicate any deal for top target Fekir is dead at the moment.

Xhaqiri scored eight goals in all competitions for Stoke city last season but could not prevent the club from relegation.
