Liverpool are reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid defender, Sime Vrsaljko and are ready to submit a bid for the Croatian in the January transfer window.

Reports from English tabloid the Mirror suggests Italian side, Napoli are also keen on signing the defender and the Croatian could be the subject of a two-way transfer battle between the Reds and Napoli.

The Croatian international moved from Serie A side, Sassuolo to Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal last summer after series of impressive displays for the Italian side, but has failed to nail down a starting berth since he moved to the Wanda Metropolitano last season.

The former Genoa defender has found games hard to come by under manager, Diego Simeone and the right-back is open to a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano in search of regular first-team action in the January transfer window in other to boost his chances of representing his country at the FIFA World Cup in Russia next summer.

However, reports suggest the Reds are ready to submit a bid in the region of £22 million for the defender.

The 25-year-old is primarily deployed on the right-hand side of the defence.

He has been limited to just five appearances for the Los Rojiblancos and he is known for his crossing, versatility, concentration, holding onto the ball and winning aerial duels.

Given his age and massive ability he will be a quality addition to the Reds.
