Major blow for United as Key man will miss FA Cup clash with Arsenal

As Manchester united gear up to face Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round, a major omission  has been reported from the 20-man squad set to visit the capital.

David De Gea was missing from the team that travelled to Arsenal. The coach is believed to have rested the important Spaniard and has instead given Romeru the green light with Lee Grant as a backup.

De Gea has recently returned to form following a stuttering start to the campaign after a World Cup to forget in Russia. His 11 saves against Tottenham Hotspur in the league is testament to this.

Facing the Gunners without his number one keeper therefore will be playing into the hands of the Gunners who have a way of finding the net against oppositions who play the ball on the ground with the likes of Aubemayang and Lacazette leading the lines.

Also missing was Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling who has returned from an injury lay off but the match against the Gunners seem a little too soon for him.

In addition, Luke Shaw has recovered from illness, Fred was spotted after not featuring for a while and Alexis Sanchez was also in the squad as they boarded a train to London for the crunch encounter.

United got to this stage of the FA Cup tie by overcoming Reading a couple of weeks ago. They have won seven matches in a row in all competitions since the introduction of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker manager.

The influence of the Norwegian has been speedy and the way the players have responded as been equally unusual as performances have soared to a new level.

Can they make it eight on the bounce without their trusted hands?
