Man United agree £60m transfer fee for fourth summer signing, announcement imminent

United have finally gotten their key target after months of speculation according to a leading news source in England. The Mirror claims that Spurs Defender Toby Alderweireld is set to sign a contract with United to complete a move worth £560 million. Alderweireld has been linked to United all through the summer as sources claimed that the move has stalled due to the transfer fee

Tottenham were demanding a transfer fee of £75 million for the 29-year-old who has just a year left on his existing contract. However, a compromise has been agreed and Tottenham have agreed to sell the player for £60 million. Alderweireld has been a key component in the heart of the defence for Tottenham since his move from Atletico Madrid in 2015.

The Belgium international composure and defensive discipline have set him apart as one of the best centre-backs in Europe. This was evident during the world cup as he put in a shift as Belgium finished 3rd in Russia.

United transfer chiefs are confident in completing the move in the next few days and Alderweireld has reportedly told his teammates that his heart is set on a move to Old Trafford.

If the transfer goes through Alderweireld would be the fourth signing for the Red Devils as they seek to bridge the gap between themselves and City rivals Manchester City in the race for the EPL this season
