Manchester United are hoping to steal a march on arch-rivals Liverpool to sign Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder, Christian Pulisic this summer.

Liverpool are believed to be front-runners for his signature with the Reds earmarking him as a direct replacement for Philippe Coutinho who left Anfield for a reported fee of £142 million to Barcelona in the winter transfer window.

However, reports from German publication Sport Bild understand that the 20-time Champions have joined the race to sign the highly rated midfielder in the summer and could be set to pip their rivals to the attacking midfielder signature.

Although, it is believed the playmaker could be the subject of a three-way transfer battle between Manchester United, Liverpool and Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich with the Bavarians viewing him as a long-term replacement for Dutch winger, Arjen Robben.

His current contract at the Signal Iduna Park expires in 2020 and might command a fee in the region of £40 million should the American midfielder decided to leave the German outfit at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has grown into one of the brightest and most sought after midfielder in the Bundesliga since he made his debut for Borussia Dortmund in a 2-0 win against FC Ingolstadt on the 30th of January 2016 having come on a substitute for Adrian Ramos in the second half.

The highly rated youngster has shown over the last few years that if you are good enough, you are old enough having established himself as a first team regular for both club and country. He is known for his passing, creativity, vision, long shots, versatility, dribbling, pace, and he is often fouled due to his style of play.

Given his age, quality and massive potential, he would be a great addition to the Red Devils and would reduce United over reliance on Paul Pogba.
