Happy times for United fans as the Club are set to make Club’s Player of the Season, David De Gea the highest paid Goalkeeper.

The 27-year-old, who is highly placed amongst the best goalkeepers, has a year left to run on his existing contract. United Chiefs are keen to commit the player to a long-term deal to ward off suitors.

De Gea was close to a move to European giants Real Madrid before an administrative error stopped the deal from being processed. Since then the Spanish no. 1 has cemented his place among the elites with save after saves with his gloves every week.

De Gea also won the golden glove for the first time last season and was included in the PFA team of the season. Contract negotiations has been from the middle of the season with both sides initially failing to reach an agreement.

However, all seems resolved as De Gea is set to put pen to a contract worth £350,000-a-week. This is a substantial increase from his existing contract reportedly worth £210,000 a week. This should put an end to speculations surrounding his future.

De Gea has spent seven years with the Old Trafford outfit winning the club’s Player of the Year a record four times.
