Manchester City to Swap Raheem Sterling for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez

Fresh report suggests that Manchester City and Arsenal will be involved in a player swap deal in January for their wingers – Raheem Sterling and Alexis Sanchez.

Manchester City are still keen to land Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to the Etihad Stadium in January and the deal could fall through as a result of a potential swap for Raheem Sterling. The England international player is said to have the eyes of Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger on the lookout for him.

Manchester City could have signed Alexis Sanchez last summer if only Arsenal were successful in their attempt to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco who was supposed to be a replacement for the Chilean. Pep Guardiola’s side were confident that they’ll sign the 28-year-old at the end of the season when he’ll be able to walk free after the expiration of his contract but are now looking to act fast in January with Real Madrid on the chase to sign the Arsenal star man. Manchester City will now capitalize on Arsenal’s interest in their player Raheem Sterling in order to secure the deal ahead of others.

Alexis Sanchez is yet to start a league match for Arsenal this season which has raised questions on whether or not Arsene Wenger is trying to build his team in preparation for his absence so that it won’t create a void in the Gunners side when he leaves taking into cognisance his refusal to renew his contract with Arsenal.

The Chilean professional footballer will be hoping to reunite with his former boss Pep Guardiola after joining Arsenal from his Barcelona side in 2014.
