Manchester United in advanced talks to sign £44m versatile midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly in advanced talks with Monaco over the possibility of signing Brazilian midfielder, Fabinho ahead of a potential summer move.

The Brazilian international was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last term having played a key role in Monaco’s stunning title triumph last season ahead of favorites Paris Saint Germain but a move to the Theatre of Dreams failed to materialised with the French side refusing to sell having sold key players such as Kylian Mbappe, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Bernardo Silva.

However, according to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, the 20-time Premier League champions have revived their interest in the defender and are closing in on a move for the former Fluminese full-back with Jose Mourinho keen on signing a quality cover for aging Antonio Valencia in the summer.

It is reported the Brazilian DM is keen on a move to Old Trafford in the summer and could be available for a fee in the region of £44 million.

The Special One move for the Brazilian makes perfect sense giving his level of versatility as he can play both at right-back and can also play as a holding midfielder.

The 24-year-old has grown into one of the finest defenders in the Ligue 1 and has established himself as a regular for the French champions since he moved to the Stade Louis II on a season long-loan from Portuguese side, Rio Ave in 2013.

He is known for his tackling, concentration, long shots, winning aerial duels, versatility, holding onto the ball, passing and crossing.

The former Rio Ave defender has featured in 33 games for Monaco this season scoring five times and providing three assists.
