Manchester United confident of Marouane Fellaini contract extension

Manchester United are increasingly confident that midfielder Marouane Fellaini will extend his contract amid exit fears due to the expiration of his contract at the end of the season.

The Belgian has been a critical part of Manchester United this season with Manager admitting how important he is to the squad especially now that Paul Pogba is out due to a hamstring injury. He has been a true revelation to the premier league joint leaders this season while pairing up with summer signing, Nemanja Matic.

The Red Devils are keen to extend the contract of the midfielder by 2 years but it is reported that the 29-year-old wants a pay increase from £80,000 weekly wages to about £130,000 which may prove difficult considering is age and how inconsistent his form has been over the last four years.

The Belgium international footballer was signed from Everton by former Manchester United manager David Moyes on transfer deadline day for a 4-year contract estimated at £27.5 million. He has so far racked up four league goals for the Red Devils in his four-year spell.

Fellaini is reportedly on the watchlist of some Turkish clubs and may be considering his options there should he fail to reach an agreement with Manchester United. He is presently free to sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs.
