Manchester United considering January transfer move for Lucas Lima

Joint English Premier League leaders, Manchester United are said to be considering a January transfer move for Santos attacking midfielder Lucas Lima.

According to the player’s agent Lucas Badia, he claimed that a number of top European teams like Inter Milan, Roma and Barcelona are interested in the Brazilian with Manchester United appearing to be his likely destination.

The Santos midfielder whose contract will expire on 31st December is keen on a move out of the club in the winter as a free agent and is carefully considering his options. Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in bringing the Brazilian to Old Trafford in a bid to further strengthen his squad after the attempt to sign Ivan Perisic failed to materialize in the summer.

The 27-year-old Brazilian who joined Santos in 2014 has racked up 107 appearances scoring ten goals. He also debuted for Brazilian national team in 2015 and has 14 caps. He’s looking to further his career in Europe after playing in Brazil all through his professional career so far. During the summer transfer window, he was said to have signed for Barcelona due to pleas by his national teammate Neymar but the reports later turned out to be false after Neymar’s transfer record move to Paris Saint German.

In an interview with Turkish newspaper, Haberturk, the player’s agent said:

“Inter, Roma and Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Lucas, Manchester United want him.

“I think we would be well suited to the Serie A but we will see.

“His contract ends on 31 December and there are many clubs interested but I am not sure what Santos is trying to do.

“Crystal Palace made a €15 million offer while Fenerbahce made a €20 million bid but for some reason neither has been accepted.”
