Manchester United in talks over deal to sign winger scouted by Jose Mourinho

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks to bring Ivan Perisic to Old Trafford this winter.

The inter Milan star was on United’s radar during the time of Jose Mourinho but a deal failed to materialise as agreement could not be reached on the transfer fees.

The former Wolfsburg player was keen to join but the club wouldn’t budge and so he remained with the Italian side.

“It’s true that an offer from Manchester United was on the table and I was close to leaving Inter. But I decided to stay and, as I said, [Luciano] Spalletti’s perseverance to keep me played a big role,” he confirmed.

United have however returned for the winger with negotiation said to be opened between the two clubs for the experienced 29-year-old Croatian who could be signed with £40 million.

The wing position might not be a priority for the Red Devils as Marcos Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial can all make an impact there.

But the addition of a seasoned winger like Perisic will only help to fine tune the development of the aforementioned players.

Even though a winger should not be prioritised over a defence that has many questions to answer, United will hopefully be lucky this time around for the Croatian.
