Manchester United Interested In Lucas Lima

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Brazilian midfielder Lucas Lima.

The 27-year-old is in the last few months of his contract at Santos and United could get him on a free.

According to Lima’s agent Luccas Badia, other top clubs in Europe are also monitoring the player’s situation with the likes of Barcelona and Inter Milan waiting to swoop on the Brazilian ad soon as his contract expires on December 31, 2017.

Badia can however not confirm which club is leading the race for the player’s signature but hinted he could be the Italian Serie A.

“Inter, Roma and Barcelona are keeping close tabs on Lucas, Manchester United want him” Badia told Turkish newspaper Haberturk.

“I think we would be well suited to the Serie A but we will see.

“His contract ends on 31 December and there are many clubs interested but I am not sure what Santos is trying to do.

Lima who plays majorly in the attacking midfield has also featured in central midfield for Santos and that could prove to be a good option for Jose Mourinho especially when a player like Paul Pogba is not available and the Portuguese could sanction the move.

Some clubs including Crystal Palace and Fenerbahce have however acted ahead of United by bidding for the player in the summer but they only met failure in doing so.

Mourinho signed the trio of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof in the summer but failed to land any of his targets in the wide areas.

He’s expected to do business again in January when the winter transfer window opens.
