Manchester United are looking to bolster their wing position come January when the winter transfer window opens and they have indicated interest in Brazilian star Douglas Costa.

The 28-year old Brazilian joined Juventus in January from Bayern Munich after an unsuccessful stint with the German champions.

His woes have however continued unabated in Italy with the Italian champions, where he has only started three matches from the off from a total of seventeen played in the league.

United who recently sacked the “special one” and brought in their former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker, are interested in bringing the Brazilian to Old Trafford in a bid expected to be worth £54m.

The reasoning behind this is to strengthen the wide areas in the team and Costa checks the boxes of power, strength and technique even though he is surplus to requirement at his current club.

For this deal to happen however, Alexis Sanchez might have to leave the club to accommodate the aforementioned player.

The caretaker manager oversaw his first match with United over Cardiff City and won 1-5. Even though it was a relegation battling side, we witnessed a United with energy, quick decision-making and guile, not the lukewarm, average, disgruntled and low in confidence team that was so stellar in Jose Mourinho Manchester United.

The task ahead for the caretaker manager is a huge one but the signs after the win against Cardiff City are encouraging.
