Manchester United make move to sign second Porto player after Dalot

Manchester united are eager to secure the signature teenage midfielder Afonso Sousa.

According to Portuguese media outlet O Jogo (h/t The Metro), Manchester united are in contact with the 18-year-old’s former agent on a possible move to Old Trafford this summer.

The promising player has been impressive so far for the F.C Porto U-19 team and has been tipped to be promoted to the senior team when the 2018/2019 Portuguese League kicks off.

Barcelona and top European clubs have been reported to be interested in signing the player and have been sending scouts to watch him over the years.

With only one year left in his contract, Porto are desperate to keep hold of Sousa and have scheduled a meeting over a possible new contract.

Jose Mourinho seems to be seeing something special in the Porto youth system, having already signed Diogo Dalot; a defender tipped by the Special One as a potential world-class performer.

Sousa is highly placed, and has been considered to be a future world beater. It will be unlikely to see the teenager ahead of Pogba, Lingard, Fellani and new boy Fred in the united line up. However, if a deal does pull through, the 18 year-old could be loaned to Championship teams or lower league sides  to get playing time and experience.
