The attacking midfielder has been on loan at Valencia since the start of the season and his impressive form for the Spanish outfit unequivocally means he is ready to be a prominent figure at Old Trafford.

Andreas Pereira was just 15 years old when he dazzled for former club PSV Eindhoven at the Manchester Premier Cup in 2011. The young prospect became an immediate target for Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, however, a word by ex Man United boss Alex Ferguson convinced the Dutch-born Midfielder to swap the Philips Stadion for the bright lights of Manchester.

The youngster, though highly rated at Old Trafford was majorly featured in the U-18 and U-21 teams since his debut against Oldham Athletic in 2013. The 21-year-old proved a step above the reserve team, but his lack of first team starts meant his career was at a crossroad and he risked hampering his development.

Credit though must be given to the youngster who went out of his comfort zone to secure loan deals with Granada (albeit an unpromising spell) and recently Valencia much to Mourinho’s annoyance.

The youngster so far have been impressive at the Mestalla Stadium, displaying an improved sense of awareness and maturity on the ball and arguably delivered his best performance in the 4-0 win against Las Palmas ,further justifying his reasons for seeking a temporary exit from the cold realms of Old Trafford .

His performances for Valencia has sparked rumours, Mourinho could seek to cut short his loan spell. Though possessing the likes of Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the squad, the Red Devils have been somewhat lacking a pure creative outlet and have a worrying tendency to go long in games when a proper passing move would have been the best option.

Pereira’s versatility means he can play along the wings or in central midfield. Patience will be required as the prospect works on his consistency, nevertheless, he has been one of the key figures of Valencia’s rise from obscurity , thus, has proven he has the requisite quality to play at the top level. It’s now up to Mourinho to pave the way for the prodigy.
