Manchester United in pole position to sign £60m Chelsea target

Manchester United have won the race to sign Juventus defender Alex Sandro,

According to reports from the Metro, Manchester United have gained advantage in the race to sign Brazilian star Alex Sandro for a reported £60 million from Juventus.

The left-back has been the subject of intense speculation amid rumours of an imminent exit from the club with Chelsea and Manchester United allegedly the front runners in the race for his signature.

Chelsea were the initial favourites to secure a deal for the left back as Conte looked to replenish his squad and provide adequate competition for Marcos Alonso. However, it is reported that the deal has now been scuppered due to the heavy price tag slapped on the Brazilian by his club.

This has forced Conte to back out of a deal as the Blues are reluctant to pay over the odds for the left back.

On the other hand, Manchester United are reportedly willingly to offer the required amount for the star, and according to reports from Metro, Mourinho has now been given the green light to complete a deal for the 26-year-old.

The Red’s boss is in the market for an attacking left back as Luke Shaw appears unreliable due to his persistent injuries, while Ashley Young is only seen as a viable short term option at the position.

Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are surplus to requirements and have been told to look for new clubs.
