English giants, Manchester United have triggered the option to extend the contracts of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and Ashley Young till the end of next season according to reports making the rounds.

The quartet faced an uncertain future at the Theatre of Dreams with six month left on their existing contract at Old Trafford and could have left for a cut-price fee this winter transfer window or wait till the end of the summer and leave on a free, but according to reports from English publication the Telegraph, the 12-month extension clause has been triggered and has calmed initial fears among fans.

Despite extending the quartets contracts at Old Trafford many still believe they face an uncertain future with the 20-times Premier League champions with players like Ander Hererra and Daley Blind still linked with a move away from the club having found games hard to come by this season.

Both have been heavily linked with a move to Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and Barcelona respectively in the winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, the future of Ashley Young and Juan Mata is not really up for discussion with both enjoying regular playing times so far this season.

Despite being the first choice left-back after series of impressive displays for the Red Devils having featured in 19 games across all competitions scoring twice and providing four assists, at 32, the English international might be ousted out of the Special One’s starting eleven once he signs a new and young fullback.

Even though he has been able to nail down a starting berth in the Red Devils line-up having featured in 22 games across all competitions scoring thrice an providing 4 assists, diminutive playmaker, Juan Mata face a fight to retain a starting berth under the Special One with Jose keen on bringing in a new playmaker in the summer.
