Medical Done: Manchester United hoping to make £52.5m announcement in days

News from England reports that Brazilian enforcer Fred is set to be announced as a Manchester United player by the end of the week.

The Old Trafford outfit had earlier announced an agreement with Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk for the 24-year-old midfielder. According to claims from a club insider, the transfer announcement has been delayed due to the club processing a work permit for the Brazilian ace.

However, the work permit is expected to be processed this week and the player could be confirmed before the World Cup starts on Thursday.

It is believed the deal for the midfielder cost an initial £48 million with extra £4 million in add-ons. The player has reportedly spoken to head coach Mourinho and is excited with the prospects of playing for the FA Cup finalists.

Fred is set to be the second signing for the Red Devils this summer, with the club confirming the arrival of young Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot from Porto for a fee in the region of £19 million.

Fred is expected to slot straight into the starting XI alongside midfield kingpin Nemanja Matic and record signing Paul Pogba. Manchester United fans are happy with the prospects of the Brazilian with many hoping he can help the club push for the League title.

Fred was named as part of the Brazilian squad for the FIFA World Cup and contributed four goals and seven assists in all competitions for Shakhtar last season.
