More goals than Morata: Agent arrives London to complete Chelsea first January deal

Chelsea are reportedly close to agreeing on a deal that would see AC Milan forward Gonzalo Higuain move to the club in January. Higuain is reportedly unhappy at Milan and wants to cut short his time at the club to be reunited with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.

According to reports from England, Sarri is keen on signing the forward and has informed Blues chiefs of his intentions. Higuain was a target for the club in the summer, but a potential transfer broke down as a result of price placed by Juventus for his signature.

The Evening Standard reports that Higuain’s agent Nicolas Higuain is in London to conclude the transfer of his brother. One major obstacle in signing the Argentine hitman is that Milan are refusing to sanction a deal until a replacement is signed.

Chelsea have offered Alvaro Morata in a swap deal but that looks unlikely as reports claim that the Spaniard is close to a move back to Spain. Higuain thrived under Sarri in during his time at Napoli, scoring 36 goals in the league in the 2015/2016 season.

Higuain would be expected to provide the focal outlet for the Stamford Bridge outfit as they seek a return to the Champions League places at the end of the season.
