Despite producing a wonderful save in the game against Crystal Palace yesterday, Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea was criticised by his manager, José Mourinho for his part in Manchester United conceding the second goal. 27-year-old De Gea was at fault for the goal scored by Patrick Van Aanholt, though he later made up for it by producing a world-class save later on.

Manchester United came back from 2 goals down to win the game 3-2 courtesy of a late strike by Nemanja Matic in the 92nd minute.
De Gea has been exceptional this season and has kept that most clean sheets in the Premier League with 15. He is expected to sign a mammoth contract at the club that will see him commit himself to United, despite the best efforts of Real Madrid to sign him up.

Speaking after the game, he said, ‘David De Gea had to do better with the second goal,’ ‘He is the best, no doubt, but he had to do better.’

Mourinho coming out to publicly check him gives him more room to improve and perform better. United are back to second place on the league table following the win at the Selhurst Park, and then we turn our attentions to the next game against Liverpool at Anfield, a crucial game in the race for the top 4. De Gea has made 29 appearances in the league this season, making 95 saves, ranking him 4th  in the division.

He joined United in the summer of 2011 as the long-term replacement for Edwin Van Der Sar. In his 7 years at Old Trafford, he has made over 300 appearances for us, and has become arguably the best shotstopper in that time.
