Official! club president leaks update on Mauro Icardi to Chelsea

Chelsea still remains unbeaten under Maurizio Sarri but they continue to struggle against tough opposition, most notably at home to Everton over the weekend. It has been suggested by many that the Blues lack of a genuine finisher could be the major snag that could scupper a title challenge.

One player who has been mentioned as a solution to this problem is Inter Milan’s star Mauro Icardi. The25-year-old is highly coveted in Europe and is regarded as one of the top marksmen in European football.

Chelsea were understood to have made a move for the striker in the summer which failed to materialize and are believed to be packaging another offer for the Argentina International.

This week the Blues have been backed to sign the player by an unlikely source Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The highly eccentric Italian was quoted as saying that Icardi could become the next Ronaldo if coached by Sarri. Laurentiis and Sarri have a history together as the Italian tactician worked with Napoli for three seasons before living this summer for Chelsea.

“Icardi is a champion, he could become a new Ronaldo, in the hands of Sarri he could make 40 goals.”

Icardi leaving Inter Milan is a case of sooner than later with a fee of £100 million touted by Inter Milan for their prized asset.

Icardi has continued his great form this season scoring 7 times in the league and a further three goals in the Champions League.
