Oliver Giroud set for crucial talks with Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window

Oliver Giroud is set for crucial talks in view of what lies ahead for him ahead of the World Cup Cup year.

Report from English publication, Sun, says that Giroud’s agent is set to jet into England ahead of crucial talks with the club’s hierarchy.

Giroud signed a new contract which would keep him at the club until the summer of 2019 so his agent’s imminent arrival raises some dust as to whether the France international is truly happy at the Emirates stadium. The striker was on the verge of leaving the club but opted out due to his wife’s refusal to leave London for Merseyside.

The 31-year-old has seen his stock fall in Arsenal despite being one of the club’s top striker, Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival has seen his fellow Frenchman start just one Premier League game thus far this season.

Giroud’s failure to gain enough playing time under his belt has threatened his future in the France football team where he dons the no. 9 jersey. His jersey number is reported to be eyed by Lacazette who may feature as France top man in next year’s world cup.

As January draws nearer, the player could push for a loan move in a bid to convince Didier Deschamps that he could still perform at top level. A number of sides in Europe are reported to be keen on Giroud’s signature amidst interests from English teams such as West Ham and Everton.
