Paolo Di Canio has stated that he won’t bat an eyelid if Antonio Conte is eventually sacked from his job at Chelsea. The former Italy forward made this statement after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over title rivals Manchester United.

The Chelsea fans have been clamouring for Conte’s sack as a result of their dismal outing in the Premier League. Defeat to the likes of Crystal Palace and Burnley have seen the title defenders crash out of the title race, with a place in the top four still hanging by the thread.

Chelsea have struggled to win games and the manner in which they have played thus far this season calls is a major cause for concern.

The win over Man United papers the cracks but Di Canio still believes that that his fellow countryman won’t stay long at the Stamford Bridge after all.

“It’s not a surprising news”, Di Canio told Sky Sports.

“Antonio Conte has never denied he could leave Chelsea.

“Something has broken inside the dressing room and I expect Conte to rescind his Chelsea contract by mutual agreement if nothing changes in the next few weeks.”

Chelsea have some tricky fixtures to play as they face West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool and Swansea City later this month. The good news is that Conte has a fully fit squad at his disposal save for the injury to Victor Moses, who returns later this month.

Conte will be hoping that he retains his Chelsea job when this season elapses but it remains to be seen how he convinces the club’s hierarchy.
