Personal terms agreed, Chelsea target due to jet into London

Chelsea are reportedly closing in on Roma defender Emerson Palmieri having agreed personal terms with the player subject to a medical and he is expected to fly into London in a bid to complete his move to Stamford Bridge this month.

The Blues have been in the hunt for a left-sided defender since last summer but failed in their pursuit of Juventus star, Alex Sandro with the Serie A sIde refusing to budge on the £80 million price tag placed on the Brazilian defender.

However, with the Blues allowing Brazilian wing-back Kenedy complete his loan move to the St. James’ Park on Monday, reports from the Evening Standard suggest the west London club are close to signing Brazilian defender, Emerson Palmieri who is expected to keep first choice left wing-back Marcos Alonso on his toes and serve as a cover for the Spanish defender.

The Spanish international has played virtually every game for the Blues in the Premier League and the Champions League with Kenedy been often used in cup competitions bit the arrival of Palmieri will provide strong competition for the Spaniard.

It is believed the Brazilian will join the Blues on a four-year deal and will earn around £42,000 per week and could cost the Premier League champions a fee in the region of £20 million.

The 23-year-old is yet to feature for the Serie A side this season having just recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury that has kept him out since May 2017.

Palmieri is known for his crossing, dribbling, versatility, long shots, concentration and defensive contributions and will be a good addition to the Blues squad.
