Picture: £30,000-a-week AM joins Arsenal squad training

Arsenal are having a good summer so far as the club begins life after Arsene Wenger under the guidance of Spanish tactician Unai Emery. Emery has been charged with overseeing the renaissance of the London club with the top 4 spot being the major target for the Spaniard.

One player who was tipped to leave the club but apparently has a bright future for Arsenal is Alex Iwobi. The £30,000 a week midfielder posted on Twitter a picture of himself in a training kit with the caption “First day back”.

The Nigerian international had been linked with a £20 million move to Italian side Lazio this summer. However, in the past few days news suggests that the 22-year-old forward has been offered a 4-year contract extension by the Gunners.

Unai Emery definitely sees the forward as part of his plans and it will be interesting to see the role he plays for the Gunners this season.

Unai Emery has a track record of improving youngsters and Iwobi would be eager to repay the faith shown by the Spanish coach this season.

Arsenal are set to face Atletico Madrid today in Singapore and this could be his opportunity to create an impact in the team ahead of the new season.
