Chelsea are reportedly close to securing the signature of Italian international Daniele Rugani from Juventus.

Chelsea have been linked to the 23-year-old centre-back with some reports claiming the move has been vetoed by incoming manager Maurizio Sarri. Rugani worked with Sarri at Empoli and his move is thought to be influenced by his former manager impending arrival at Chelsea.

Chelsea according to several reports in Italy have agreed on a fee worth €40 million for the defender. The blues identify the centre back position in need of strengthening this summer. Christensen, David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Antonio Rudiger are the current options in the centre back position.

Luiz is expected to depart the club this summer and Rugani would be an ideal signing for the flamboyant Brazilian defender.

According to Italian media giants Sport Mediaset the deal is as good as finalized with only minor details stalling the deal. Rugani has agreed to personal terms with the London club and has told his colleagues of his excitement of making a move to England. Here’s how Rugani will look in a Chelsea kit once the deal is completed.

Rugani known for his positional awareness and Aerial prowess has always been labelled a wonder kid from his youth years at Empoli. However, he has failed to reach some of those heights at Juventus despite winning multiple titles in his stay at Turin.

€40million represent a good deal for both parties as Juventus make a tidy profit on the player, while Chelsea gets a defender with huge potential on a modest fee.
