One of the protracted transfer saga could be close to an end.

Welsh winger Gareth Bale has been on the end of speculations linking him away from the Bernabeu this summer. United and Bayern Munich have been linked with the 28-year-old and reports claim an offer from Bayern Munich has been rejected by Madrid. However, news from England indicates that Bale representatives have given United positive feedback as regards a potential move to Old Trafford.

This report is also echoed by Bleachers reports journalist Dean Jones. According to Jones United chiefs are confident of luring the former Spurs star back to England.

Bale is expected to have a meeting with Madrid new boss Julen Lopetegui over his plans for the winger ahead of next season. Bale had fallen out of favour with former Madrid boss Zidane and admitted during an interview in the aftermath of the Champions league final that he may move in search of regular football. It is believed that Bale retains hope that new coach Lopetegui would bring the best out of him.

United would have to pay above £70 million to sign the Welsh forward. Bale signed for Madrid in 2013 for a then transfer record of €100 million.

His stay in Madrid has been marred by injuries and many in Madrid believe it is time for the club to cash in on the player. If Bale leaves he would be the second member of the famous BBC to leave this summer, with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo leaving for Juventus this summer.
