Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has officially joined Championship side, Aston Villa on loan till the end of the season.

The English defender was sent out on loan to the Villa Park in a bid to gain more playing time and garner enough first team experience, having found it difficult to break into the Red Devils first team due to plethora of options in defence at the Special One’s disposal.

The centre-back has found game hard to come by this season having been used mainly in cup competitions and has featured just three times across all competitions for the Red Devils and would be hoping to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans next season should he make a huge impression on the Portuguese tactician while on loan at the Villa Park for the remainder of the season.

The highly-rated defender has represented England from the U-19 to the U-21 levels and will become the third Manchester United youngster to be sent out loan this month after defender Demi-Mitchell and striker James Wilson have joined Hearts and Sheffield United respectively this winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old joined the Manchester United academy as an eight year old boy and was part of the team that won the Milk Cup competition in 2013 and 2014.

Meanwhile, in May 2015 he won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the year award and made his official debut for the Red Devils as a substitute against championship side, Wigan Athletic in a 4-0 victory at Old Trafford on the 29th of January 2016.

He is often deployed as a centre-back but can also play as a right-back and a defensive midfielder.
