Chelsea winger Kennedy has returned to Newcastle on a season-long loan. The Brazilian was impressive during an earlier stint last season with Premier League side.

He joined Newcastle in January scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists as the Tyneside club escaped relegation last season. Kennedy performances led to speculations over his future with the Blues, as Westham and Fulham were reportedly interested in the 22-year-old. However, Newcastle have emerged victors securing the player on another temporary deal.

The player was unveiled today, and Newcastle coach Benitez revealed his delight in reuniting with the flamboyant winger and believes his signing will excite fans ahead of next season.

I’m really pleased to have Kenedy back with us. I’m sure every fan will be happy with this signing.

“Hopefully he can keep playing at the same level that he reached with us last season. I wish him all the best for his time here.”

Kennedy has joined Newcastle on their pre-season tour of Ireland and expected to start training tomorrow. The Brazilian revealed his delight in signing for the club while admitting working with Rafa Benitez was a huge factor in swaying him to Tyneside. He also expressed his admiration of Newcastle fans as they had sent him several positive messages on social media.

“I am so happy with this interest from Rafa Benitez, that he came back for me. I want to keep it going, the work that I did here before, for the new season.

“I have received many, many messages on social media from the fans. They made me feel appreciated, so I wanted to come here in this new season and give everything on the pitch.”

Kennedy joins the legion of Chelsea players on loans which critics call ‘Chelsea loan army’. Chelsea fans will be hopeful he can utilise this loan opportunity to break into the squad for the 2019/2020 season.
