Player given permission to fly into London to complete Chelsea switch

Brazilian defender, Emerson Palmieri has been given the green light to fly into London in other to complete his switch to Stamford Bridge according to reports.

The Blues have been in the hunt for a left-sided defender as a cover for Spanish defender, Marcos Alonso since last summer but a move for Juventus defender, Alex Sandro last summer failed to materialise with the Serie A giants refusing to budge on their £80 million price tag placed on the Brazilian defender.

Report from Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Blues have recorded a breakthrough in negotiations with the Serie A outfit, having agreed a fee in the region of €25 million for the defender.

Although, there are still little details to be sorted out between both parties with the west London club willing to sign Palmieri on-loan till the end of the season with an option to pay the agreed €25 million but the Giallarossi wants the buy-out clause option in the deal to be compulsory.

It is believed the bonus part in the deal is what is holding up the deal but the defender has been placed on standby as he could jet into London within the next 48 hours to complete his move to Chelsea.

The 23-year-old joined Roma in the summer of 2015 on-loan from Brazilian side, Santos but his move was made permanent in 2016 for a reported fee of €2 million after series of impressive displays and has grown into one of the finest full-back in the Serie A but he is yet to feature in any game for the Romans so far this term due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered in May 2017.

He is known for his crossing, dribbling, passing, long shots, concentration and defensive contributions.

Given his age and massive potential he would be a good addition to the Blues and would serve as a good cover for Spanish defender, Marcos Alonso.
