Romelu Lukaku in line to play for Belgium against Cyprus

Belgium national team coach, Roberto Martinez has declared Manchester United striker, Romelu Lukaku fully fit for tonight’s world cup qualifier match against Cyprus.

Even though Belgium’s match against Cyprus is deemed to be a novelty game since Belgium have already qualified for the world cup as they are sitting comfortably at the top of the Group H table with 9 points, the manager seems to be unmoved by this as he has confirmed that his first choice striker, Lukaku is in line to feature in the match.

Lukaku was on the sidelines during Belgium’s 4 – 3 win over Bosnia Herzegovina due to an ankle injury, he has been cleared to play tonight which may frustrate his club Manager, Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United are set to face Liverpool on Saturday which is meant to be a big test for Mourinho as they’re yet to play against any top 6 team so far this season. But the Red Devils are already faced with quite a number of injury woes to players like Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini who suffered ligament damage on national duty. The team boss will not be impressed if his top striker is made to face Cyprus tonight as he is hoping to avoid further injuries to his players.

Lukaku is currently the third top scorer in the World Cup qualifying stages with 10 goals trailing Robert Lewandowski’s 16 and Cristiano Ronaldo’s 15 goals.
