Ruben Loftus reveals where he’d rather play in a Chelsea 4-3-3 system

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been talking tough this summer about wanting to establish himself in the first team at Chelsea. Loftus-Cheek returned early from holiday to impress Maurizio Sarri in pre-season and seems to have worked his way into  Maurizio Sarri plans.

He played 15 minutes in the Blues defeat of Huddersfield on Saturday which indicates a greater role for the young midfielder. The English international has had a good 12 months since moving on loan to Crystal Palace last season.

Loftus-Cheek speaking to Chelsea website revealed some of the tactics displayed by Sarri and discussed his preferred position in the midfield. According to 22-year-old the attacking position in the 4-3-3 is his favourite position.

‘”Playing in a 4-3-3 in an attacking midfield position is kind of my position really, my suited position, so hopefully I can bring my best football to the team,”

His performances for last season won him a spot in the England World Cup spot where he played a role in England unlikely run to the semifinal. Despite showing much promise from his youth days at the club Loftus-Cheek has yet to get an extended role at Chelsea.

However, it is hoped by many that the English midfielder can finally fulfil on his potential this season as the Blues look towards life under Sarri.

Chelsea faces Arsenal on Saturday and Loftus-Cheek would be expecting to feature at some point in the game to lay down a marker for the season.
