Sarri picks Chelsea legend as his assistant – report

Sensational news coming from Italy claims Sarri to Chelsea is almost complete as the Italian has picked club legend Gianfranco Zola as his assistant.

Sarri and former employers Napoli have been in a protracted battle over a severance clause. However, it is claimed the Blues have agreed to pay Napoli £5 million to release the Italian from his contract. This has paved way for Sarri to be confirmed as the new manager of Chelsea.

Chelsea also want to make an offer for Napoli defender Raul Abiol and marauding right-back Elseid Hysaj.  As of now, nothing concrete has been agreed with the Italian club but the two deals expected to cost the London based club about £55 million.

The report also claims Sarri has agreed a two-year contract with the option of an extra year. The contract is reportedly worth £5 million per year with a seasonal bonus of  £1 million if he guides the club into the top four.

Chelsea have also reached a gentleman agreement with former Watford coach Zola to be Sarri number two with further talks expected to occur after the World Cup. Zola who last coached Birmingham City is a fan favourite having made 229 appearances contributing 59 goals in his seven-year stay with the Premier League side.

Zola is currently contracted to South Africa media giants Multichoice to cover the world cup.
