Three key players snubbed by Emery in Europa League squad

Arsenal have submitted a 25-man squad list for the Europa League group stages with some few surprises in the team selection. However, it looks like some players such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Nketiah and Smith-Rowe are not on the list.

But in reality, Unai Emery is permitted to exempt the players from the list as they fall as under 21 players and don’t need to be added under the preliminary list. Unai Emery can add any under 21 player to any of his match day squad as long as the names are submitted a day before the game.

In full retrospect of the squad, Unai Emery picks Laurent Koscielny and Saed Kolasinac despite both players having long-term injuries. Furthermore, he selected four goalkeepers in his squad with  Petr Cech, Bernd Leno and Emiliano Martinez joined by Deyan Illiev.

Forgotten defender Carl Jenkinson makes the list despite currently nursing an ankle strain injury. Arsenal have been drawn in a group consisting of Qarabag, Vorskla Poltava and Sporting Lisbon with the Gunners kicking of against Volska at the Emirates Stadium on September 20.

Arsenal reached the semifinals of the Europa League last season falling to eventual champions Atletico Madrid 2-1 on aggregate.
