Shocking news coming from England reports that Manchester United’s interest in Belgium Defender Toby Alderweireld has cooled down.
It is being suggested by some media sources, that United scouts are not impressed with the 29-year-old. Alderweireld who has fallen out with his club over a new contract was high on the list of United as they seek to bolster their defensive options.
However recent developments suggest the Old Trafford outfit are looking at alternatives with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Atletico Madrid Jose Gimenez and ACmilan Alessio Romagnoli at the top of the list.
United were reported to have earlier made contact with Tottenham over the availability of the defender who has one year left on his contract. However, it seems the Red Devils want a younger defender with the Tottenham defender turning 30 by next season.
Club sources also claim that United would have to sell one of their current center-backs to facilitate any defensive signing. United have made a defensive signing this summer, bringing Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot from Porto on a five-year contract.
Alderweireld is still rumoured to be on his way out of the London club with many top clubs monitoring the player’s contract situation with Tottenham.
Alderweireld considered one of the best defenders in England made just 18 appearances in all competitions for the north London side.
