Tottenham Hotspur’s defender, Toby Alderweireld is reportedly set to sign a new contract, thus tying the Belgian for the long term and quashing rumours of an exit from the Wembley Staduim.
The 28-year-old publicly aired his discontent over his £50,000-a-week wages, fuelling rumours he might seek an exit from the club’s Chairman Daniel Levy is notoriously known for implementing a strict wage structure at the club.
The infamous policy has been criticised by a number of pundits and players, with English left back Danny Rose the most recent to voice out his frustration over the much publicised wage scheme.
However, Alderweireld’s disgust over his relatively low wages has not had an effect on his performances. The Belgian has so far been impressive this term and Spurs are reportedly willing to keep player and are ready to increase his weekly wages to £110,000.
The lilywhites are also reportedly moving to secure Dele Alli’s contract. The midfielder has been linked with a switch to Real Madrid and Spurs are keen to tie himto a long-term contract in a bid to deter suitors from luring their prized possession.
Spurs are also reportedly ready to make a mouth-watering offer of £200,000 a week contract to Harry Kane. The deal would comfortably make the Englishman the highest paid player ever in the history of the club.
