Two injury concerns for Manchester ahead of Arsenal game

Manchester United overcame a huge test in Tuesday night as we defeated high-flying Watford at The Vicarage Road stadium courtesy of a brilliant team attacking performance.

Goals from Ashley Young who netted twice, coupled with a brilliant goal by Jesse Lingard means we are still hunting Manchester City down for the race for the Premier League title. However, the 4-2 win over the Marco Silva led side has come at a cost as two of our most important players, Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic both suffered injury complaints ahead of our two upcoming matches against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.

Matic was replaced in the 54th minute with what looked as a muscular complaint, and his prognosis is not looking good, given that the 29-year-old is a player that doesn’t get injured easily. With upcoming tough matches against our title rivals back to back, José Mourinho will be sweating on the fitness of those two.

After an unimpressive win over Brighton last weekend, there was a bit of lower expectation heading into the clash in London, but a blistering start to the match helped us despite The Hornets best efforts to come back into the clash. The case of Martial is not feared to be serious but he is still a concern.

We head into the clash against Arsenal knowing  that anything short of victory over Wenger’s team could be disastrous as City play at home, and with the Citizens form, we could finish the gane on Saturday eleven points behind Guardiola’s heeding into the clash next weekend, which is a big margin at this stage of the season.

Speaking after the match, Jose said, “Matic is injured, I don’t know how badly,” “For Matic to tell me he wants to be replaced, he does not do that if it is nothing important. It is muscular.“We lost stability when Nemanja Matic had to come out but the important thing is the three points” he added.

The game against Arsenal is very pivotal as a victory will make the Manchester derby next weekend more significant and Mourinho will be hoping Matic and Martial return for that clash. Matic has been impressive ever since his move from Chelsea while Martial has regained his form and confidence over the course of this season.
