It’s quite a frustrating period to be a Tottenham fan as the club are finding it a tad difficult to convince Harry Kane to remain at the club. Tottenham were always going to have a difficult season with a limited transfer and wage  budget and with the Manchester clubs spending big in the summer it was obvious the title race was headed to Manchester.

Tottenham recent signings have been  young players within the £30 – £40 million range with the exception of Fernando Llorente. Tottenham find themselves in fifth position 21 points adrift of Manchester City but only three points off Liverpool in the race for the top four. Here are two players that could help improve Tottenham in their fight for the top four position.

Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace ascent from 20th to 14th position has been mostly down to the Ivorian winger, Zaha. The ex United player has been the best player in the bottom ten this season.

Zaha would give Tottenham one thing they lack which is a visible threat down the wings with his reputation as a good dribbler of the ball. He is also very strong defensively which is vital for any player in Pochettino’s system of play. Although Palace would be reluctant to sell him a but a fee within £40 million should be enough to secure the player.

Winston Reid

Reid has always been linked to several big clubs especially north London rivals Arsenal but could be a good signing for Tottenham. Tottenham have just three senior centre-backs Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld although Eric Dier can play centre back if needed, he does not possess the level of concentration needed to play the position as seen in the 4-1 loss to Manchester City.

Reid is a proven defender in the Premier League and his massive experience is needed in the Spurs’ defence. At the age of 29 Reid is at his peak and would be a good backup to the first team players. The player would be an inexpensive shrewd purchase by the London club. Reid can play in a four-man or three-man defence and would slot in excellently.
