Unai Emery reads riot act to Mesut Ozil, makes one demand from him

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery demands more defensive input from star player Mesut Ozil.

In the wake of the 2-0 home defeat Arsenal conceded in their match against Manchester City during the opening weekend, Emery has urged his star man Ozil to put in more effort in the defence and insisted that the 29-year old needs more ball at his disposal and also stressed that his position doesn’t need to be changed.

Emery emphasized on the significance of the German man to the team if he can return back to his best and when the coach was asked of Ozil’s strength in his position, he demanded that every player is needed to put in more work to recover the ball indicating that position do not really matter and team work is needed.

In Emery’s words: “Every player needs to do the defensive work in the true moment of a match…for me we need to start together, whether we are attacking or defending. I want that from every player”.

Ozil has been struggling for consistency after excelling briefly following his move from Real Madrid to Arsenal in 2013 and in the Gunners opening match against City at Emirate, he could only feature in a less deep part in the defence flank despite being pressured to make an impact on the game.

Although, Ozil is expected to feature in Arsenal’s game against Chelsea this Saturday as another chance to excel in his defensive duties is set.
