Unai Emery unveils new Arsenal Captain



Arsenal are set to have an amazing five captains for the new season according to new manager Unai Emery. It is a popular tradition in Spain for teams to have 5 captains and Emery has brought this tradition to the Emirates.

Emery also revealed that Koscienly is the new first team captain with Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Xhaka the remaining captains in order of seniority. Contract Rebel Ramsey is part of the captains and this could swy his mind to sign a new deal.

Emery also admitted that the captaincy is not a big issue as he prefers to have leaders in the squad. He believes that every player has to show leadership in the squad at every particular moment on the pitch.

“The captain of this group is Laurent Koscielny, who is injured at the moment,” said Emery.

“After Laurent, our other captains are Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka.

Emery has also made a number of changes to the normal routine of the club some of which includes bringing the squad to training at the Emirates on Saturday. He also will not reveal the identity if the starting 11 until Sunday.

Emery has been tasked with taking up the mantle after the 28-year reign of Arsene Wenger and returning the club to the top 4. Arsenal begins their EPL campaign against Manchester City on Sunday in what promises to be a cracker.
