Arsenal football club chances of making the top four in the league this season which is the criteria for qualifying for UEFA champions league has been a major source of concern for the fans of the Gunners this season amidst several controversies surrounding the English side and their poor level of activity in the summer transfer window which saw them sign only Alexander Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer deal.

The football club manager Arsene Wenger, who is currently on a two-year deal with the Gunners have lost the goodwill of quite a large number of fans after his failure to qualify Arsenal for the UEFA Champions League last season for the first time in twenty-one years due to his failure to secure the top four spot.

Arsenal, who have failed to win the EPL since 2004, were dealt a big blow last season after failing to secure their usual top four position. This could be said to be as a result of more teams not only fighting to remain in the league but also challenging for the League title and top four spot.

Gone are those days when we used to have top four teams, we now have the big six with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and Leicester city battling for the spot as opposed to the usual teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

It has now become more difficult for Arsenal due to the Thursday night football they have to play at the Europa League which causes fatigue in players alongside several other negative effects.

Arsene Wenger is underfire due to many tactical blunders he has made in recent times one of which saw him being battered by Liverpool in a 4 – 0 embarrassing defeat earlier this season. He appears to have lost the magic touch that saw him to an unbeaten premier League victory with the Invincibles.

The English side is also faced with issues of commitment by their star players like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil who have refused to sign new contracts which begs the question as to whether or not they’re prepared to give their all to ensure the success of the north London side.

Injury is another major concern as Arsenal is known to be a team that consistently suffers major injury setback to their key players and the effect of such has been known to disorient the team; case study being last season’s injury to their midfield maestro Santi Cazorla.
